Locals and regular visitors to Saint-Tropez don’t mind the coming of autumn as it marks the beginning of an event they look forward to above all others: the Voiles de Saint-Tropez (Sails of Saint-Tropez). This regatta brings together all kinds of sailing craft, modern and vintage, in one of the most beautiful settings there is. Simply magical.
A race for nautical enthusiasts
Born out of a challenge between friends in the early 1980s, the Voiles de Saint-Tropez has become a real institution, bringing together sailing enthusiasts and party lovers since the first race ended with a celebration at the famous Club 55 on Pampelonne Beach. Over the years, the event grew, initially by word of mouth, until it became the hugely popular international event it is today. Maxi yachts, classic sailboats, Wally yachts, prototypes and venerable traditional wooden craft are all welcome. The event still retains its slightly rebellious yet resolutely festive spirit, despite being an undeniable sporting challenge.

If you enjoy sailing craft old and new, sailboat races and spirited discussions with fellow enthusiasts, the answer is obvious. But, even if you don’t count yourself among the aficionados, you cannot fail to be spellbound by the spectacle of the multicoloured sails dotting the azure waters of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez and by the good-natured spirit that pervades the entire town throughout the two weeks of the regatta. There’s also a wealth of activities, concerts, aperitifs, and dinners to enjoy during the event. It’s a golden opportunity to discover our little corner of Provence at the start of the off-season, when the vines start to turn red and the air becomes milder.
