Whether they have two wheels or four, legendary vehicles are in the spotlight in Saint-Tropez this spring. On the programme: Motorcycles from March 24th to 25th as part of the Rétropezien, followed by cars on April 13th, 14th and 15th when the 2018 Bella Strada will be in full swing.
The 25th gathering of classic motorcycle
Yes, the Rétropezien celebrates its 25th year in March 2018. Its participants are always lively whether they're on two feet or on two wheels. Rendezvous at des Lices where this year's wonders will be revealed – only motorbikes that were manufactured prior to 1960 can take part. Once tested, admired, commented on and caressed, the mechanics take to the road for a trip along the Gulf. They'll head up to Gassin and turn around before driving back to La Croix Valmer and then on to Pampelonne beach. The rest of the festivities are just as tempting; anyone for mechoui, sardines and aperitifs? You can also take a stroll through the Provençal market as you await the return of the Harley's and other dream machines.
The second Bella Strada!
The atmosphere is just as festive for the vintage cars that will participate in the second edition of Bella Strada. Around forty cars from leading names like Porsche and Jaguar, among others, will be on show before they embark on a 150-kilometre journey along the winding roads of the Massif des Maures. Short breaks on the streets of the village are part of the fun. As for the Sunday parade, it's not to be missed! Between the turquoise waters and ochre facades of the typically Provençal harbour and alleys you can't help but imagine the St. Tropez of the 1960s. A flurry of Vichy skirts and beach mambos and a time when stars like Brigitte, James, Michel and others stopped to admire glamourous cars with shiny bodies, sparkling rims and luxurious leather interiors.
